Tonight's events were a success. On the menu:
- Goldie's half-recipe/half-self-created white bean, bacon, and pumpkin chili
- Green leaf salad with blanched green beans I got from the farmer's market and toasted pumpkin seeds from Goldie's pumpkin
- Fresh loaves from Essential Bakery topped with sunflower seeds
- Charred squash with sour cream/ pumpkin / pecan dip
- Pumpkin-walnut bars with cream cheese frosting
- My pumpkin spice bundt cake topped with white chocolate ganache and cranberries
- Variety of pumpkin ales
I think one of my favorite things about getting older is noticing the fact that you are, indeed, getting older. The way that conversation flows from history to politics to career moves to the nuances of pop culture and the pure irony of the times. Often times I have to stop and think.. these are the conversations that used to bore me to tears. These are the conversations that I used to mock. These are the conversations that seemed so insignificant.
Now these are the conversations of our lives. And I love them. Sometimes that's what scares me the most.
